Actually, I am not sure how the whole id...Hi Mary. Actually, I am not sure how the whole idea originated. I participated in the event one other time, 2007 (I think). It is sponsored by the Vermont Crafts council (www.vermontcrafts.com), and they provide a detailed map to get to each studio (which is grouped by region). Each studio is supposed to incorporate an "educational" aspect to their Open Studio event, but each studio decides how to meet this obligation. I chose to do painting demonstrations from life.
