In addition to the demonstrations, I had prizes. Maryellen won my painting, "Fresh Veggies", and 4 other people won a free class. My granddaughter helped pick the winning names.
We had little snacks and pastries, as well as plenty of pretzels for all. The pretzels were a huge hit, especially with the grandkids!

How wonderful!! Such a great idea - a state wide open studio. How did such a thing get organized?
Hi Mary. Actually, I am not sure how the whole idea originated. I participated in the event one other time, 2007 (I think). It is sponsored by the Vermont Crafts council (www.vermontcrafts.com), and they provide a detailed map to get to each studio (which is grouped by region). Each studio is supposed to incorporate an "educational" aspect to their Open Studio event, but each studio decides how to meet this obligation. I chose to do painting demonstrations from life. It was a lot of fun.
What is the quote on the wall above?
