Thursday Evening Painting Demo

My weekly Thursday evening class is normally a still life class. However, this week I thought a portrait demo would be helpful because I want to change the weekly format to 3 still life classes and 1 portrait class per month. My daughter Annie posed, and here are a few photos from the session.

I used an extended palette, rather than a limited palette, and the painting is 14"x18".

I didn't recognize Anne with such a straight face, but I did wonder where you found such a beautiful model!!! All my cousins are so pretty!!!

Hi Heather, Annie is a beautiful model and a lot of fun to paint! Thanks, that was so sweet. <3

Karen: I host a live model sketching group once a month but have always found it hard to get many people interested in attending. Everyone over here in Maine seems to just want to paint landscapes. Do you have any suggestions to increase the attendance?

Hi Mary. I, also, find it very hard to get a consistent group of artists to commit to attending on a regular basis. I teach a still life class on Thursday evenings from 6pm-9pm, and I am switching this to 3 still life classes and 1 portrait class per month. These photos are from the portrait demo I did to get the students interested in painting portraits/figures. Also, I did the demo because some of my Thursday night students come to the "Open" (no instruction) Saturday figure session, and I thought the demo would help increase attendance, too. So, my suggestion would be to give a demo.
